Meet Your Orthopaedic Surgeon, Dr Gavin Nimon



Dr Gavin Nimon understands that an orthopaedic injury can have a significant impact on your independence and quality of life.

That’s why he is passionate about providing you with holistic patient care from diagnosis, injury prevention, rehabilitation, surgery and aftercare.

Dr Nimon prides himself on his aftercare, offering his patients a post-operative pack including discharge information with post-operative appointments, exercises to aid recovery and contact numbers in case of any questions. Your GP will also be fully informed about your procedure as Dr Nimon produces via a typed operation record.

Dr Nimon combines his expertise and best practices in Orthopaedic medicine to provide you the upmost quality of care.

  • He has a special interest in Upper Limb (Shoulder and Elbow), Hand/ Wrist and Knee injuries :- including:
    • Shoulder Stabilisation
    • Rotator Cuff Repair
    • Labral Repair (arthroscopic)
    • Dupuytren’s Contracture
    • De Quervain’s Release
    • Carpal Tunnel Release under local anaesthetic
    • Trigger Finger Release
    • Sporting Injuries including Knees
  • All procedures under minimally invasive and arthroscopic techniques.
  • He also undertakes Shoulder and Knee replacements for arthritis.
  • He obtained his Fellowship from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.
  • He undertook further training in the United Kingdom and is also a fellow of the Edinburgh Royal College of Surgeons.
  • When not at Glenelg Orthopaedics, Dr Nimon teaches at the medical school and is appointed as Senior Lecturer at the University of Adelaide.
  • Dr Nimon is the Head of Upper Limb at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
  • He past president of the SA Hand Surgery Society and past secretary of the Shoulder and Elbow Society of Australia.

The person behind the doctor:

When not at work or teaching at the University of Adelaide, Gavin spends his time either with his family (wife and three children) and enjoys playing the guitar and sporting activities including kayaking and windsurfing.
